How to determine the shipping weight?
Solution The shipping weight will be determined by the weight in itself (actual weight) or by the package density (dimensional weight), whichever is greater.

Actual weight (A) is the weight of a package using a standard scale rounded to the next full pound. For example: a 14 1/2 carton will have an actual weight of 15 pounds.

Dimensional weight (D) is the calculation used to reflect a package density. Multiply the carton dimensions (length x width x height) and divide the cubic inches by the dimensional weight factor of 166 if measured in inches. For example: a box with the dimensions of 20"(Length) X 15"(Width) X 14"(Height)= 4,200 cubic inches, divided by 166= 25.3 pounds for a dimensional weight of 26 pounds (always rounded to the next full pound).

Chargeable weight is the weight (Actual or Dimensional, whichever is greater) used in calculating shipping charges. For example: the Actual weight of a package is 15 pounds and the Dimensional weight is 26 pounds, the chargeable weight will be 26 pounds.

To simplify things you can use our shipping cost calculator to help you determine the Actual and Dimensional weight of your packages.
